About the journey
Route & journey time
Southampton to London Gatwick is approximately 90 miles via the M27, M3 and M23. Journey time is typically 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on traffic on the M25 anticlockwise stretch — the main variable on this route. Off-peak (mid-morning, weekends) is usually at the lower end; weekday rush hour can stretch it past 2 hours.
Both Gatwick terminals
We cover both Gatwick North Terminal and South Terminal. Tell us your terminal and flight number when booking; your driver heads directly to that terminal's arrivals hall with a name board. The inter-terminal monorail is rarely needed since we collect at the exact terminal of your flight.
Compared to alternatives
The train from Southampton to Gatwick requires a change (typically via Clapham Junction) and ends at Gatwick's station, with a short walk through the terminal. The taxi is door-to-door, with no public transport interchanges, and significantly less stressful for families, groups or anyone with cruise luggage. Parking at Gatwick for a week typically costs £100-200; our return fare is often cheaper and removes any parking risk.
For departure journeys
Most airlines recommend arriving at Gatwick 2–3 hours before departure (3+ hours for long-haul or peak holiday periods). Your driver advises the ideal pickup time at booking based on your flight and your postcode.
Common Southampton pickup points
City centre hotels (De Vere Grand Harbour, Holiday Inn, Premier Inn West Quay, Novotel), Southampton Central railway station, the University of Southampton, Southampton General Hospital, the four cruise terminals (cruise + Gatwick multi-leg is common), and any residential SO postcode.
