Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-02-25

viaUNO Cars is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and safeguard your information when you use our website, mobile applications and booking services in the United Kingdom, in line with UK data protection law (UK GDPR) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) where applicable.

1. Who we are

viaUNO Cars ("viaUNO", "we", "us", "our") is a licensed private hire operator based in Southampton, Hampshire, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal data we process in connection with our website, booking services and communications. You can contact us at support@viauno.co.uk or via our contact page.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you give us directly:

  • Contact form: when you send us a message via our website, we collect your name, email address and message.
  • Bookings: when you book a ride (via our website, app, phone or email), we collect name, contact details (phone and/or email), pickup and drop-off addresses, journey date/time, vehicle preference, passenger count and any special requirements. If you pay online, payment is processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers on our systems.
  • Account (if applicable): if you create an account with us, we store the details you provide and your booking history as needed to provide the service.

We may also collect technical and usage data such as IP address, device type, browser and how you use our website, in line with applicable law and this policy. Where we use address lookup or map features, we may use services such as Google Maps; their use of data is described in Google's Privacy Policy.

3. How we use your information

We use your data to fulfil and manage bookings, communicate with you about your journeys, process payments, ensure safety and compliance with licensing and legal requirements, and to improve our services. Where you have agreed, we may send you service-related or marketing messages. We do not use your data for purposes incompatible with those described here without telling you.

4. Legal basis (UK GDPR)

We process your data where necessary to perform our contract with you (e.g. to provide the ride), where we have a legal obligation, where we have your consent (e.g. for marketing), or where we have a legitimate interest (e.g. security, fraud prevention, improving our service) that is not overridden by your rights.

5. Sharing your information

We share information only where necessary: with drivers and approved operators to complete your journey; with payment processors to take payment (they process card details in line with their own policies); with our email provider (e.g. for contact form delivery); and with authorities where required by law. We do not sell your personal data to third parties for their marketing. Any third parties who process data on our behalf are required to protect it and use it only as we instruct.

6. Security and retention

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. We retain your information for as long as needed to provide the service, deal with complaints or claims, and to comply with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g. tax, licensing). After that, we delete or anonymise it where possible.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you have rights including: access to your data; correction of inaccuracies; erasure in certain circumstances; restriction of processing; data portability where applicable; and the right to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@viauno.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

8. Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses cookies in two categories:

  • Essential cookies — required for the site to function (for example, keeping you signed in). These are always active and do not require your consent.
  • Analytics cookies (optional) — we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors find and use our site. This service uses cookies to collect anonymised data about page views, sessions and traffic sources. IP anonymisation is enabled. Google Analytics cookies are only placed after you explicitly accept via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You may decline analytics cookies and still use all site features. Your preference is stored in your browser and you can change it by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site. For more information on how Google uses data, see Google's Privacy Policy.

You can also control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings; blocking certain cookies may affect how the site works.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when we do. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where appropriate.

For privacy-related questions or to exercise your rights, please contact us or email support@viauno.co.uk. Our Terms & Conditions govern use of our services.
