Modern Slavery Statement
Statement for the 2025/26 financial year · Last updated: 2026-04-23
viaUNO Cars has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Although we are below the £36 million annual turnover threshold at which a statement is required under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we choose to publish this statement voluntarily to demonstrate our commitments and to be transparent with customers, drivers and partners.
About our business
viaUNO Cars is a licensed private hire operator based in Southampton, Hampshire, United Kingdom. We provide airport transfers, cruise port transfers, executive hire and local private hire journeys across the South East. We engage self-employed private hire drivers who hold their own council-issued driver and vehicle licences, and we work with a small number of third-party suppliers for vehicles, software, payments and cleaning.
Our policies
Our approach to preventing modern slavery is set out in our internal policies on:
- Driver onboarding, right-to-work and licensing verification.
- Safeguarding (see our safeguarding policy).
- Whistleblowing and how concerns can be raised confidentially.
- Supplier selection and due diligence.
- Data protection and passenger privacy (see our privacy policy).
Driver vetting and welfare
Because drivers are the most visible part of our service and the people most at risk of exploitation, we take special care in their onboarding and ongoing welfare:
- We verify right to work against original documents and refuse to engage anyone whose status we cannot confirm.
- We check that every driver holds a valid private hire driver's licence from a UK local authority and a clean Enhanced DBS result.
- We pay drivers directly and transparently. We do not accept arrangements where an intermediary retains a driver's earnings or identity documents.
- Drivers are free to work for other operators and to choose their own hours — we do not enforce exclusivity or attempt to control off-platform earnings.
- We provide clear channels for drivers to raise concerns about pay, working conditions, or suspected exploitation of themselves or others.
Supply chain due diligence
Our supply chain is limited but we still apply reasonable due diligence:
- Vehicle leasing, fuel and cleaning services are sourced from UK-based companies with visible compliance standards.
- Software and payment providers are selected from reputable, regulated vendors.
- We do not source goods or services from high-risk territories where we cannot verify working conditions.
Training and awareness
Operator staff and drivers are briefed on how to recognise indicators of modern slavery and trafficking — for example passengers who cannot speak for themselves, look under duress, are without identification or money, or who are being told what to say by a third party. Safeguarding refresher briefings are issued at least annually.

If you believe that you or someone else is a victim of modern slavery, please report it to:
- Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline: 08000 121 700 (free, 24/7).
- Emergency: call 999.

Review
This statement is reviewed and updated at least annually and whenever there is a significant change to our operations or the legal framework.
