The train requires two changes (typically via Reading and London) and ends at Luton Airport Parkway with a separate shuttle bus to the terminal — total journey 3-4 hours with luggage. Long-stay parking at Luton is £100-200 for a week. Door-to-door private hire is around 2 hours and removes all transfer risk — it costs more than parking the car yourself, but nobody has to drive the M3 and M25 twice or leave a car at the airport for the duration.
