About the journey
The drive
Southampton to Bristol Airport is around 85 miles via the M27 / A36 / A303 / M5 (J19 Gordano, then A38 south) — typically 1h 45m to 2h 15m. The A36 single-carriageway stretch between Salisbury and Warminster is the main variable; lorry traffic at peak hours can add 15-20 minutes. Midweek mornings and weekend off-peak are smoothest.
About the airport
Bristol Airport (BRS) sits at Lulsgate Bottom, around 8 miles south-west of Bristol city. It is the South-West's busiest airport, serving easyJet, Ryanair, TUI, Jet2, KLM and Lufthansa. Single terminal layout — meet-and-greet is fast; your driver holds a name board at the arrivals exit, on the upper-level forecourt. The BRS short-stay drop-off is included in your fixed price.
Why a taxi beats the alternatives
There is no direct train from Southampton to BRS — the rail route requires a change at Reading or via Bristol Temple Meads with onward bus, taking 3-4 hours with two transfers. BRS long-stay parking is around £80-180 for a week, plus the shuttle bus to the terminal. For families or groups of 2+ with luggage, a door-to-door taxi is faster, often cheaper and significantly less stressful.
Common Southampton pickup points
Southampton Central railway station, city-centre hotels (De Vere Grand Harbour, Holiday Inn, Premier Inn, Novotel), the cruise terminals (for cruise-then-flight passengers), the University of Southampton, Southampton General Hospital, plus Romsey, Eastleigh, Winchester and Salisbury — Salisbury sits roughly on the A36 route so SP-postcode pickups are particularly efficient for BRS.
What is included
Fixed price covers all road tolls, the Bristol Airport drop-off / pickup fee (currently £6 per car), meet & greet, flight tracking and 60 minutes free wait time post-landing. No hidden extras on the day.
